The term ‘More Able and Talented’ (MAT) is used to describe pupils who require enriched and extended learning opportunities across the curriculum in order to develop their abilities in identified areas; this can include academic fields as well as creative fields such as art/drama and sporting talents.  Pupils may also show exceptional leadership, team working or entrepreneurial skills.

In Wales the term 'More Able & Talented encompasses approximately 20% of the total school population.
